Who is JKEY?

A musical virtuoso.

An incredible producer.

A beat magician.

Starting out as a pianist for the Harlem Gospel Choir, JKEY soon moved on to the enviable position of in-house keyboard player for prestigious Hip Hop powerhouse, Roc-A-Fella Records. Here, JKEY worked with everyone from Jay-Z to Pharrell to Missy Elliot. Having gained the respect of acclaimed audio engineer, Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton (Mariah Carey, Notorious B.I.G., Eminem), Young Guru took JKEY under his wing and personally taught him the art of audio engineering. JKEY has since gone on to engineer/produce a myriad of hip-hop and R&B artists such as Lil Wayne, Beyoncé, Jay-Z amongst others.

While nurturing and developing his love for Urban music, JKEY has simultaneously remained faithful to his Latin roots – In 2004, he joined SGZ Records where he produced and developed projects such as the soundtrack for El Cantante (Jennifer Lopez/Marc Anthony movie) and Anais (Objectivo Fama TV Show winner). In 2005, he conceptualized and spearheaded the Reggaeton Niños project, which went on to sell over 200,000 copies. Following this, he produced “Porque Soy”, the first hip-hop song to ever be recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.

JKEY is  heavily involved in the bachata & Reggaeton music scenes, producing acts such as Xtreme, Prince Royce, Zion Y Lenox, Tito El Bambino, Illegales and many more. He is an in-demand remixer, having re-modeled tracks by the likes of Alicia Keys, Mario and Snoop Dogg. More recently, JKEY has headed the Production department at GMB Music where his first project was Kat DeLuna’s smash album, Nine Lives. He also scored music for the television show, The Mentalist.

JKEY has proven that he can throw his hands at any challenge he is faced with, whether it be working with orchestras, scoring movies or churning out absolute bangers. Indeed, with dedication, devotion and determination, JKEY can create magic out of thin air.
